The NOMA canister vacuum is one of our most important tools on the job. Using it correctly and keeping it maintained ensures strong suction, clean results, and a longer life for the machine. Here’s everything you need to know to get the best performance from your NOMA vacuum.

When to Change the Vacuum Bag

You should change the bag when it’s about three-quarters full or when you notice a drop in suction power. Don’t wait until it’s completely full. Once airflow is restricted, the vacuum works harder and picks up less.

You may also need to replace the bag sooner if:

  • You’ve vacuumed fine dust, drywall, or pet hair (these clog the pores faster).

  • You smell a musty odor coming from the vacuum.

  • The bag feels heavy or firm to the touch.

On average, expect to change the bag every 2–3 weeks depending on usage.

How to Change the Bag

  1. Unplug the vacuum before doing anything.

  2. Press the latch to open the top lid of the canister.

  3. Gently slide the cardboard collar of the old bag off the nozzle. Avoid shaking it to prevent dust from escaping.

  4. Dispose of the used bag properly.

  5. Take a new bag and slide the collar onto the nozzle until it’s snug and sealed.

  6. Close the lid securely until it clicks.

  7. Plug the vacuum back in and give it a quick test to confirm strong suction.

💡 Tip: Always keep a spare bag in your caddy or vehicle so you’re never caught without one on a job.

How to Use the Vacuum Properly

  • Start at the farthest point of the room and work your way backward toward the exit so you don’t step over freshly vacuumed areas.

  • Use the floorhead setting appropriate for the surface: the brush down for carpets, brush up for hard floors.

  • Move in long, straight lines for a professional finish and efficient coverage.

  • Always check for small objects or cords before vacuuming to avoid clogs or damage.

  • Wrap the cord loosely when finished to prevent fraying near the plug.

Regular Maintenance

  • Wipe down the vacuum exterior weekly to remove dust and debris.

  • Check the hose and attachments for blockages if suction weakens.

  • Inspect the filter every few months and replace it if it’s visibly dirty or gray.

Keeping your NOMA canister vacuum clean and well-maintained doesn’t just protect the equipment, it ensures every job meets the Done Right Cleaning standard. A well-running vacuum saves time, energy, and helps you deliver those crisp, professional results our clients love.
